Technically, this is my best work. It has the most intricate subject of anything I have ever drawn, and every section of the piece was carefully considered. It was also my most time-intensive work. I never timed it but I would say I spent a good 120 hours on this piece.
Trifecta
This is another super technical piece. I really think my use of color is superior to most of my other works in how it guides the eye around the composition. Rendering the pollen granules was a lot of fun, and I thought it was unique and original.
Rebirth
A big part of the success of my artwork is my use of original reference photos. Every part of this composition was a photo taken by me. Most of the plants are even part of my garden. Although it's not my most successful colored work, I was able to draw it very fast which is indicative of the growth I've undergone in AP Art.
A Brief Moment of Clarity
This work happened very fast, only taking me a few hours. It was my first time working with the medium so I had a ton of fun exploring all the ways I could create volume and value. A big part of this piece was my time in AP Art History. Studying works that used chiaroscuro inspired me to use the extremely dramatic lighting of this piece.
Pseudo-Self
This was the first work that I completed in my portfolio, and was my first portrait painting. I really enjoyed using oil paint on this one, and had a lot of fun with the colors in my face, and the skin glitches around the composition. Technically, I think my anatomy is very accurate, and it melds well with the abstract elements.
